When it comes to well-known industries in Taiwan, many people's first impression would be semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, medicine, and machinery industries. However, some percentage of Taiwanese people are working in labor-intensive jobs in construction fields, and specific percentage of workers have been suffering physically and psychologically from long working hours and hazordous working environments with weak occuapation safety measures. The writer, 林立青 (Línlì qīng), and the director,Fen Fen Cheng(鄭芬芬), noticed this situation and wrote this novel/filmmed this drama to convey the message to the public about the situation these workers are confronting with.

Light the Night (traditional Chinese: 華燈初上; simplified Chinese: 华灯初上), is a 2021 Taiwanese Netflix original series drama. Season 1 In 1988, teenagers find a dead body in the woods; some months before, two madams at Light(光) Bar both have affairs with the same man in their lives. Season 2 At the end of the second season of Light the Night, Jiang Han is shown listening to a tape recorder that was handed over to him earlier by Rose Luo. It had a recording of a woman panicking about another woman's death. Just as Jiang Han is on his way to meet Rose Luo, he is hit by a speeding car and collapses on the road. Season 3 Police officer 潘文成Pan Wencheng continued to investigate the murder of Mama Su in the Light Bar, and thorough investigation, he gradually revealed the true face of the murderer. It is discovered that there are more unspeakable secrets and complicated relationships hidden in the murder case.

"Stranger In the North" , released in 2016, is a song by Malaysian singer Namewee and Chinese-American singer Wang Leehom, which was included in Namewee(黃明志)'s 2016 "Asia Open to Traffic(亞洲通車)" album. This song tells the story of non-Beijingers' experiences of drifting north and relocating themselves in Beijing. It has attracted much attention because there are a huge quantity of migrant workers working in Beijing but from other Chinese provinces.
